Go Friends will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, March 29. WE NEED EGGS FILLED WITH CANDY. Plastic eggs can be purchased for $1.00 at Dollar Tree or Dollar Stores, fill them with wrapped candy or toys, but NO MONEY. There will be a tub in front of the sanctuary beginning Sunday, March 4 for collection. Deadline for filled eggs is Sunday, March 25. Thank you for your continued support. Bonnie Weber

Ash Wednesday Events
Tuesday, February 13, Pastor Doug will be burning the old palms from last year along with the inserts from today. Also, there will be an Ash Wednesday Service Wednesday, February 14, at 7:00 PM at Green Street.
Souper Bowl of Caring
Sunday, February 4, 2018 is our Souper Bowl of Caring. Donate nonperishable food items or make a monetary donation to Starting Points with (MTCK) on the memo line. Bring items or donations to church next Sunday. ” Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.”
Confirmation Class Orientation
Pastor Doug is excited to announce his next Confirmation Class, “Young Disciples”. This is an opportunity for youth at our church, grade 8 and older, to confirm and celebrate their faith and become members of First Church. Our youth already show a rich faith, formed at home and through our ministries. Young Disciples is an opportunity for them to take a closer look at their faith and how they’re living it out as a disciple of Jesus. Young Disciples will begin with Parent Orientation on Sunday, March 18, at 5 pm, at the Blue, just before Youth Group that same night. The class will then begin on Sunday, April 15, and meet each Sunday, for four weeks, through May 6, at the Blue, from 5 – 6 pm. A handful of other special meetings or outings during the class will be discussed and scheduled at our Orientation meeting.
55+ Bus Trip
55+ is sponsoring a bus trip to Lancaster, PA to see the play, “Jesus”, on Tuesday, May 22. Cost is $133 for the show and meal at Hershey Farms. If interested call the church office 304.258.2766. Deadline to get tickets will be April 15.
Lenten Bible Study
Lenten Bible Study–Pastor Doug will be leading the Lenten Bible Study “He Chose the Nails” beginning February 21 at 6:30 PM at Green Street. He would like attendees to have their books for the study by February 11, 2018. You may get copies from the church office. A $5 donation toward the cost of the books would be appreciated.

BWC Scholarships Available
The Baltimore-Washington Conference will once again be offering college scholarships for the Fall 2018 semester. Students can apply January 3 – March 7, 2018 through an online application system. Scholarships are available to students attending or enrolling in accredited colleges and universities in the United States. Students must be an active member of a church for at least one year and be attending (or will attend) an accredited college or university within the United States full-time. Students will need to provide their official transcript (high school or college) and contact information for two church references (pastor and another member of the church). In addition, the student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

BWC Leadership Days 2018
There will be a leadership workshop March 17, 2018, at Otterbein UMC in Hagerstown, MD 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Keynote speaker will be Kay Kotan 9:00 – noon. Registration is $40. Lunch is included in registration. Deadline for registration is March 2, 2018. Space is limited—no walkins. There will be a free copy of the book “Gear Up” to the first 200 who register.
